If you have completed the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting (Level 8 in Scotland) you are exempt from the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, our entry level qualification. You can start studying for CIMA’s Professional Qualification right away.

For Apprentice or College entry the requirements are variable depending on the nature of the course however for technical and applied sciences the core subjects are Maths, Science or Technology/Technological Studies and English. These should be at GCSE (grade C or above), Standard Grade (credit level) or Intermediate 2.

The Upstream Oil and Gas Industry Technician Training programme (visit www.opito.com for more information) equips motivated candidates with the skills and knowledge to work offshore and onshore in four varied disciplines: Instrument and Control Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance and Process Operation. The skills acquired on this programme are highly regarded and valued worldwide. Some companies within the industry will have specific apprenticeship programmes for different disciplines.

Careers with Syngenta

Apprenticeships – Engineering Apprenticeships are offered at our manufacturing sites, managed either directly or in conjunction with local learning institutions. Recruitment for these roles is managed via local advertising.

Internships – Engineering Year in Industry (YII) positions may be available annually at our manufacturing sites. These positions and introduction of candidates are managed via the Year in Industry scheme, www.yini.org.uk

Careers with Tata Steel

Apprenticeships - GCSE English, Maths and Science at grade C or above are a minimum requirement. Programmes for Mechanical, Electrical and Structural Engineering, Technical and Machinists roles available across the UK.

Apprentice Engineers - A level Maths, Science and another related subject at grade C or above, together with 3 GCSE’s, English, Maths and Science and grade C or above are a minimum requirement.

Programmes for Mechanical and Electrical Engineers offer the opportunity to study for a B.Eng affiliated to Sheffield Hallam University, together with on-the-job training and a salary.
These roles are located in North Lincolnshire.

Functional Trainees - Two A levels at grade C or above or equivalent GNVQ/BTEC, together with GCSE English, Maths and Science at grade C or above is the minimum requirement. Programmes available within Manufacturing, Engineering, Technical, Finance and Business Excellence. These roles are located in South Wales.

This is for internal staff only.

Retail Apprenticeship: City & Guilds qualification - starts every September in selected stores and runs over 9 months Qualification Curriculum Framework (QCF) – on-the-job training for QCF in Retail Level 2 - practical skills and knowledge of retail.

Technical Certificate: Retail Level 2 is a multiple-choice test on the theoretical understanding of the retail business.

Key Skills level 1 or 2 - Apprentices without Maths and English GCSEs work towards Key Skills Level 1 training in:
• Application of Number and Communication
• Key Skills Level 2 training is also available

Careers with TNT

A 5-year apprenticeship programme is offered for young engineers. This provides an intensive college course before a placement in one of TNT’s Vehicle Maintenance Units.

Careers with Co-operative Group

A paid apprenticeship with The Co-operative offers a huge choice of businesses, roles and career directions. We offer apprenticeships in: Food, Pharmacy, Funeralcare, Travel, Banking Group, Legal Services, Motors, Farms and Head Office. You will achieve a recognised national Apprenticeship at level 2 with expected progression to level 3. You will also benefit from gaining transferable skills for both personal and career development, within your chosen business area with support from your mentor.
