We offer work experience through our ‘adopt a school’ scheme for one or two weeks. This provides you with valuable 'life skills' just when you need them and a real taste of the world of work that lies ahead.

Every year, ASDA offers around 15,000 placements of one or two weeks to young people to give them the opportunity to experience working in retail under its ‘Flying the Flag’ programme.

Many companies within the oil and gas industry offer both internships and work placements to students studying related disciplines (engineering, applied sciences, etc). Most internships are offered to students in the summer before their final year, and year-long placements almost always make up the penultimate year of a sandwich degree course. Internships/placements are usually project-based and almost always involve some structured training.

Research shows they also improve your employability and some larger companies often sponsor successful interns through their final year.
