Do you want a fresh start?

Morrisons careersMorrisons is one of the UK’s largest food manufacturers and retailers employing over 131,000 colleagues. Uniquely we source and process most of the fresh food that we sell. We own abattoirs, fruit and vegetable pack houses, meat and cheese processing plants and bakeries giving us close control over provenance and quality; and we have more people preparing more food in store than any other retailer. Each week over 11 million customers pass through the doors of over 450 of our nationwide stores.

With over 100 years experience we aim to provide all our customers with the very best value for money, freshest products wherever they live. This is underpinned by our key values and unique culture of: one team with a can do approach, great shopkeeping, selling and service, bringing the best out of our people, fresh thinking.

Morrisons has been declared Employer of the Year at both the Oracle Retail Week Awards 2011 and the Grocer Gold Awards 2011. We are committed to training, with every retail employee offered the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

GCSE/ 'A' level/ Standard Grade/ Highers

As part of our dedication to developing employees we launched our own Academy and aim to train all 40,000 of our 16 to 24 year old employees to achieve a QCF Level 2 Retail Skills Qualification. With one third of all staff in the retail industry aged under 25, Morrisons’ commitment emphasises the pivotal role that the retail sector plays in helping young people into work. We also offer a variety of sponsored degree programmes across the UK – see www.iwantafreshstart.com

Apprenticeships

Benefits include:

• Staff Discount • Profit Share • up to 29 days holiday a year (includes Bank Holidays)
• Long Service Award • Share Save Scheme • Pension.

Morrisons is the largest provider of apprenticeships in the UK, with plans to train more than 12,000 apprentices this year. This investment aims to build on our commitment to have more skilled butchers, bakers and fishmongers than our rivals and to have the best service offering to customers.

Our Fresh Food Academy has also strengthened our position as the UK’s leading advocate of retail craft food skills; skills which help people build a career and help Morrisons further increase the quality, value and service we provide to our customers.

We have always had a commitment to nurturing our people, and with the development of the new Fresh Food Academy, employees have a clear and direct path to progress throughout the organisation. With 30% of senior management having originally started working for Morrisons from the shop floor without a university qualification, we have a heritage of taking employees careers from the shop floor to the top floor of the company and will be working to ensure that this generation of apprentices build long term careers in the business.
