Making CSR mandatory


America business magazine Forbes has recently put the question forward whether corporate social responsibility (CSR) should be a law. It reported that India is the first country to implement CSR legislation. To read more on India’s relationship with CSR, click here.

CSR is an important aspect of many businesses, from supporting their customers, improving the environment to gaining a competitive edge. In 2014, any company without some sort of CSR strategy, scheme or initiative would be viewed with suspicion. But would it be productive to make it mandatory?
