Nestlé has introduced a new initiative in Bangladesh, under its rural development programme, which comes under its corporate social responsibility. This initiative involves sourcing raw materials for its products by teaching local farmers to grow produce to the company’s specifications.

Naquib Khan, Nestlé Bangladesh Limited Corporate Affairs Director, has stated: ‘Rural development is a new initiative that we started after getting the Standard Chartered-Financial Express Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award 2010-11 along with our previous activities.’ (The Financial Express, 6th May 2014)
