Trade shows offer an opportunity to meet new customers and tout your products and services to a wide range of people. So when you get a chance to have a booth at a trade show, you want to put your best efforts into it.

But what are the most important things to concentrate on when preparing for a trade show? There are a lot of different facets to creating a successful booth, but some are always more important than others. Here are a few things you should ask yourself while getting ready for your next trade show.

Why Do You Want to Participate?

This is by far the most important question you need to ask yourself: what is the reason for going to the trade show in the first place? If you can’t answer this question clearly and concisely then maybe you shouldn’t waste time and resources preparing for one.

In essence, there are three big reasons to participate in a trade show: you are launching a new product, you want to build brand awareness and you want to generate new leads that will help you in the future. If you want to do one or all of these, then a trade show is probably a good idea for your company. You can confidently prepare for the show knowing that you have a clear purpose and the possibility of future success.

Of course, there are other reasons to participate in a show as well, such as competitor research, making new connections with vendors or strengthening your relationships with current clients, but the first three reasons are the big ones.

What About Booth Design?

You want to attract people to your booth so you can make a sale. That’s the whole reason for going to a trade show. So you need to figure out what you want your booth to look like.

You don’t have to fancy it, but you do want it to stand out. Bright colours and markings are always a good idea because they will catch the eye of people from almost anywhere in the convention space. Have your logo prominently displayed and maybe a tagline so people know exactly what you offer.

Here are a few cool booth ideas you can look into.

What Will the Weather Be Like?

Even though the trade show is likely to be held indoors, the weather can really affect the way people feel. Do a little research with a weather app (get it on Google Play) the week before you arrive so you can plan accordingly.

If it’s going to be raining, you’ll need to take that into account when you’re moving all of your equipment into the show space. Also, you can get creative and offer people who stop by refreshments that will make them forget about the weather, such as coffee on a cold day or lemonade on a hot one.

Before you decide on attending a show, ask yourself some questions to make sure you are ready.
