UEFA Champions League – Group Stage’s Matchday 4 Predictions

UEFA Champions League matches are a good shot for making some betting cash. Usually, bookmakers offer better odds for European nights than for other minor events. We selected four games to make our predictions. There were:

  • Olympiakos – Man City
  • Lazio – Zenit
  • Man Utd – Istanbul Basaksehir
  • Juventus – Ferencvarosi

This article was created by our author, Kate Richardson, who analysed each and every one of the listed matches to give you a better chance of winning. Check her out here!

OLYMPIAKOS – MANCHESTER CITY

In the late afternoon of next Wednesday, the teams from Olympiakos and Manchester City have an appointment for the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, in Piraeus, in a duel referring to the 4th round of the UEFA Champions League Group C.

The team led by Portuguese coach Pedro Martins will reach this round in 3rd place, with three points. Last Saturday, Olympiakos welcomed and beat Panathinaikos (1-0), in the second consecutive victory in the Greek Superliga.

Manchester City leads the group’s accounts, with nine points from nine possible. Last Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s team stumbled again in the Premier League, with a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham, and thus, losing points for the second consecutive match, after the draw (1-1) with Liverpool before the international break.

As for this match, Man City should be dominating the ball possession, and taking the initiative to score, against the Greeks, who will do everything to hold the English. However, at the same time, the hosts won’t be able to only defend, and they will have to play inspired by Lyon, who defeated Man City last season counting with counter-attacks.

This time, the victory is imperial for Olympiakos’ aspirations in the UCL, and although the match outcome is uncertain, both teams to score seems reasonable for this one.

LAZIO – FK ZENIT

Lazio and Zenit will face each other in the UCL’s Matchday 4 in the Group F. The game will take place in the Eternal City of Rome, Italy, on Tuesday, November 24.

Although Lazio seems clear favourites to beat the Russian side, Zenit will double down on their chances of qualification, and thus, this will be a very open game. Lazio is in second place in the group with 5 points added in 3 rounds, having not lost any game yet and appearing to be the team best prepared to fight Dortmund who is first with 6 points.

Zenit had a disappointing start, having only 1 point and occupying the last place in the group. In case of defeat in this match, the Russians are already out of chances to make it to the round of 16, meaning there will be only the third place to fight for.

Playing at home, having a good campaign and taking advantage of the weaknesses that Zenit has been showing, we believe that Lazio will win this match and add the 3 points!

MANCHESTER UNITED – ISTANBUL BASAKSEHIR FK

On the fourth game, day of Group H of the UCL, Manchester United hosts Istanbul Basaksehir. The match will take place on Tuesday, November 24, and although Basaksehir is the Turk champs, we expect Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to have no major problems to get away with the three points.

Man United lead the so-called group of death, on 6 points, same as Leipzig who are second and 3 more than Paris Saint Germain who are third. However, the Red Devils have a good opportunity to go top, as PSG and Leipzig will face each other this round.

The Turks are in last place with 3 points added, but they surprised the British in the first round game, winning 2-1 in Turkey.

This time we believe it will be different, though. Counting with penalties, and without the passionate Turkish supporters, Man Utd will probably grab the three points

JUVENTUS – FERENCVAROSI TC

In Group G, we have Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus hosting Ferencvaros, from Hungary. The match will happen on Tuesday, November 24, and this is quite frankly our easiest pick.

Total dominance from Juventus is expected, as they will face a modest Hungary-based side.

Juventus is in second place in the group with 6 points gained, but they aren’t topping the group, thanks to Barcelona, who have 9 points. A victory against Ferencvarosi will mostly seal Juve’s qualification to the round of 16, though.

Ferencvaros is currently rock bottom of the group, with only a point conquered. They will try to fight against Dynamo Kiev, who’s also got a point so far, for the UEFA Europa League race.

With Juventus naturally favourite, we believe that the best option to invest in this game is the market for more than 2.5 goals plus a Juve win!

Conclusion

These were our picks for winners in the four aforementioned UCL games. Our best pick is Juventus’ game, but if you think 2.5 goals plus a Juve win is a risk you don’t want to take, go for a simple Juve win, and that should do the thing for you.
