Page 6: Conclusion
The skills that employers need in a modern economy are not the same as they were ten years ago. This is because we live in a dynamic economy. Part of the job of organisations like Kent TEC is to identify the skills that employers require and help young people develop these skills. The more skills that young people have, the better.
Young people need to learn to think for themselves and be independent. They need to be confident, able to process information, work with modern Information Technology, work well with others, communicate clearly, have key mathematical skills and be reflective. They should also not expect a job for life. Rather, there should be an emphasis on ‘lifelong learning’ and development. We can therefore appreciate the need for organisations like Kent TEC to have clearly focused marketing plans in order to meet training targets for young people.
