Not Yet Using Local SEO? UK Companies Must Include It As Part of Digital Marketing Strategy!

Looking for a great way to instantly appear on a potential customer’s smartphone? It’s local SEO. London companies just like yours are using it on a regular basis, but if you haven’t yet discovered this key digital marketing strategy, don’t worry! It’s not too late. Instead, once you understand exactly how it works, you’ll be ready to get started and begin connecting with customers just down the road almost instantly!

What is Local SEO?

This digital marketing technique involves optimising your presence online to attract more business from those who are literally nearby. If you haven’t yet heard of local SEO, UK digital marketing companies are working hard to get the word out about how important it is, but you may have overlooked it because it doesn’t necessarily fit with what you may already know about the optimisation process as a whole. For most, optimisation is simply about attracting the attention of Google. Local SEO, though, isn’t just about Google for London businesses. Instead, it’s about Google, Yelp, and even Apple maps! People are searching for your business using lots of different search engines, and optimising for all of those so you’ll literally get more customers who open your shop or restaurant door is key to doing more business today.

Why Does It Matter?

Brick and mortar businesses are one of the most important spaces for local SEO London is packed with great shops, but if you’re not using local SEO, they may not find you. Statistics estimate that nearly half of all companies are already using local optimisation to attract customers from specific regions or even neighbourhoods. If it’s done well, local SEO matters because it means people can find your business quickly and easily, and that puts them one step closer to doing business in your shop.

Adding Local SEO to Your Digital Marketing Strategy

Now that you know what local SEO is and why it’s so important, how do you get started? First, make sure your business is already optimised for mobile searchers. This matters because one study found that nearly 61% of searchers are more likely to contact a local business if they have a mobile-friendly site in place. There are many online tools you can use to check the mobile-friendliness of your business.

If you’re not yet mobile-friendly, you’ll want to address that issue first. If you’re already mobile-friendly, your next step is to do some keyword research. Think about what customers might pop into a search engine regarding your company. For example, maybe they’re looking for home décor in South Kensington. That might be one of your key search terms. Perhaps they’re looking for authentic pizza in Ealing. Whatever they might type into their phone is what you want to target. Just think about how people would search for your services, then make certain you’re incorporating those.

Keywords aren’t the only piece of local SEO UK companies like yours consider, though. Instead, you’ll also want to update your Google My Business listing. You’re not just trying to rank for Google here, but updating your business listing is a must as other search engines actually refer to it too! You’ll either need to create a new business or claim your existing business. Make sure you get the address, hours, website, and phone number correct here. Remember, this is how customers will actually find your shop or restaurant. You’ll also need to verify your listing. You will want to follow the same process for Bing’s Places entry. If you know you’re listed in other locations like Yelp, go ahead and ensure your listings there are correct. From there, perform a citation audit to make sure that anywhere your business is listed, your name, address, and phone are correct and standardised. You may find issues if your name, address, and phone aren’t standard across the web.

From there, you’ll want to begin including your new keywords into your website and start trying to rank at the local level.

If local SEO sounds like a lot of work, there’s a reason for that – it is. If local SEO matters to your business, yet you don’t quite have time to tackle it all, your best bet is to work with a professional who can handle the entire process for you. After all, if it means more customers through your door, it’s certainly worth the investment.
