3 top tips to create the best lead generation funnel

Lead generation is as close as some marketers get to sales. It can be really overwhelming to have a leads quota as a marketer and we totally understand that. We’re here to tell you that generating leads doesn’t have to be a daunting task. And you don’t have to be the best lead generation company in London to get this right.

In this post, we break down the steps required to optimize your site to generate the maximum amount of leads.

Let’s dive in.

1. Create buyer personas

Before you start generating leads you have to find out who your ideal customer would be. That’s the perfect time to create some buyer personas.

Buyer personas are semi-fictional descriptions of people that would most likely buy your product or service. It’s not an exact science so use your best judgement and make some assumptions about your customers.

Now that you’ve created a few personas it’s time to actually make your lead generation funnel.

2. Create some pop-ups

Popups are annoying for a lot of us but they just work. Companies are able to convert 10-15% of their site visitors to leads using popups. Now not all pop-ups are created equal. Here are some of the top popup formats to use:

The classic popup – this is the regular rectangular shaped popup that we are all used to. It appears right in the center of the page. The best way to use these is for when the user is about to exit your site. This is called exit popups and they are really great at converting users to leads. We do not recommend using this format on mobile.

The wheel – there is a new format on the block and it’s called the wheel. If you have an e-commerce site you could get this type of popup using an app like Privy or Wheelio. The wheel is like a wheel of fortune that displays all these different prizes that the user could win and requires them to put in their email to play. It’s a great way to add an element of fun to your site, and it converts incredibly well.

Top bar – this is a thin strip or bar that appears on the top or bottom of your site. It’s a great popup to use on mobile as it doesn’t take over your entire mobile screen like other popups do.

3. Do a content audit

What does content have to do with lead generation? Everything! Make sure that every piece of content on your blog or landing pages on your site have a CTA or lead magnet. Make these lead magnets relevant to the pages and content they are on and make sure to A/B test different versions for the best conversions.

When a user lands on a page that has a CTA and signs up then they become a lead and you can now retarget it using email marketing, Facebook ads and other channels.

Recap

We’ve outlined the top 3 aspects of a lead generation funnel that you need to set up for your site. Before you start, create some buyer personas and pinpoint exactly who your ideal audience is. Next, power up your site with some catchy popups and finally make sure that there’s a lead magnet, lead form, or CTA on every single page on your site where it’s relevant to put one. With these strategies, you will be way on your way of mastering lead generation and generating lots of sales for your company.
