Best 3 teams in CS: GO history

One of the most entertaining and fun online activities is represented by esports. At the core, they are video games which have been so attractive to the players that the fans organized into teams.

These teams are competing against each other, and sometimes they are so good that they take part in high-end tournaments, with big prizes and thrilling action. There are also esports bets related to the matches, like those at Unibet, so you can actually bet on games between the teams.

One example of such esports is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The current game is the fourth in the series, and is one of the most famous multiplayer first-person shooter video games and one of the most famous video games in the world, overall. It was developed by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment, being released in August 2012.

The two teams fighting each other are the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists. There are roughly 50 million CS:GO players around the world, so it is easy to see that there are so many that compete against each other. You can actually watch them play online, so that is one way of being part of the action.

Big competitions, such as CS:GO Major Championships, known as Majors, are the main attraction for the teams. They are esports tournaments sponsored by Valve. Started in 2013, this tournament has a $1,000,000 prize pool as of today, and 24 teams are competing for it.

These being said, which are the best teams in the CS:GO history? Below is a top three of them:

Astralis

Where to begin with Astralis? In the CS:GO World Rankings, they are ranked first in both all-time number 1 and all-time best top 10 teams, based on the days spent on these respective positions.

Currently, they are on the second place in the world rankings, after Vitality, but far away from the third place.

The Danish team won the last three Majors, and with a total of four, they hold the record for the most major titles. In 2019, after winning StarLadder Major in Berlin, Astralis became the first team to win four major CS:GO championships and three in a row. The other three are Katowice 2019, London 2018 and Atlanta 2017.

The team was founded in 2016, and in its first year had a big win over OpTic Gaming in the Esports Championship Series. After this success, they recorded another glorious win, against FaZe Clan, at the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship.

The current team has developed into a CS:GO force since March 2018. It features the main star player “dev1ce”, and also “dupreeh”, “Magisk”, and captain “gla1ve”.

The parent group of the team is Astralis Group.

Fnatic

The Majors from 2013 to 2015 were basically a fight between two Swedish teams – Fnatic and Ninjas in Pyjamas. Fnatic won three titles (the first one in Jonkoping, then in Katowice, and in Cologne), and lost another one in Cologne to the Ninjas.

Fnatic is already considered one of the greatest all-time, and in 2015 became the first team not only to win back to back Majors, but also two in the same year. At the same time, it became the first one to win three Majors. But that was just one year before Astralis kicked off.

Some view it as the greatest CS:GO team ever, with the Golden Age being between June 2014 and November 2015. In that time, they won 12 tournaments and finished second in another 5, out of a total of 27 played. And some argue that we may never see again such a sheer force in this game.

The best players are “KRIMZ”, “Brollan” and “JW”, but what made them incredibly strong was the ability to work so good together as a whole. The team is part of an esports organization with the headquarters in London, which was founded in 2004.

Luminosity Gaming/SK Gaming

As the name says it, there are basically two distinct teams. In 2016, the players from the Canadian Luminosity Gaming moved to the Brazilian SK Gaming.

Luminosity won the Columbus Major in March/April 2016, and then the players got into a contract dispute and soon moved to SK Gaming. What happened next was that they won the following Major too, in July 2016, in Cologne.

The team ranks second in the list of all-time number 1 teams by number of days, only after Astralis. This is due to the extraordinary 2016 and 2017 years, December 2017 being their last time on the very top of the CS:GO rankings.

Also, since June 2018 they don’t feature in Top 10 as well, but the team has for good made a name as being one of the greatest and most surprising in history – and maybe the best outside Europe.
