Student life planning a successful school event

Schools may host more events than any business ever would in a year. Nearly every month, there is some sort of event that takes place. It could be academic in nature. Other times, it simply celebrates what student life is all about outside academics. These are events such as prom night, sports festivals, or a graduation ball, just to name a few.

Every level will have moments when students will be tasked to arrange and host these events. It is theirs, and that is why schools normally urge them to arrange it their own. Although, they do help in their own way. However, at the end of the day, the students will be doing it themselves.

How can they properly plan events then?

A software for events is always readily available for students if they need any help. However, there are things that only humans take into consideration.

For example, taking into account that those who are the most senior among students should be given the priority if large school events are going to take place. This is done to acknowledge their time in the school was not taken for granted. It is their last year, and this is just a way of showing the school’s appreciation, and that should be at the forefront of a meeting among the student organizers and the school’s administration.

SEATING SOLUTIONS

Additionally, seating will become a problem, especially in large-scale events. No matter how organized you will be, there are students who are tongue in cheek and feels that they are entitled to anything they want.

To organize this better, it may be smarter for the student organizers to bring the seating venue online. Allow those who are attending to pick a seat of their choosing. That way, those who are attending should follow the seat that they booked, because it was their choice, no one else’s.

However, you will never shake off troublemakers, but that is a problem on the day of the event. At this time, minor contingencies are the only things that are in your control.

EVENTS FOR FREE

Normally, people show up when it is free. Events, however, are the opposite, especially with students.

If they know that the event that is about to take place is free, they are more likely to change their mind. Tickets are normally given out still with these kinds of events. That is why remind students to return their tickets if they decide not to attend. This way, those who genuinely wanted to attend are given another opportunity to receive a ticket which would have otherwise been binned.

MANAGING YOUR VENUE SPACE

If your venue has somewhat of limited space, it might be smart to limit the number of tickets that are allowed to be purchased by a single family. However, keep in mind that this should be advertised in advance to give students a forewarning, and lower the possibility of negative outcry for the limitations.

These are just some of the things that need to be considered if you want students to manage a successful event. It is not a guarantee all the time, but it gives them a high chance of success.

At the end of the day, students are amateurs at best when it comes to planning events. If they need software for events, let them. Otherwise, allow them to make mistakes. It is their chance to learn; their chance to grow.
